Upcoming Meetings
June 4th- Public Meeting @ 6:30 PM
The DC Office of Planning is conducting a Bellevue Small Area and Neighborhood
Investment Fund (NIF) plan which are aimed at improving the area's commercial
and retail opportunities, increasing home ownership and housing choices, and
enhancing the quality of life for Ward 8 residents. This will be done by sensitively
guiding development that respects the character and scale of the existing neighborhood.
Both plans are aimed at enhancing the existing neighborhood by shaping development
and directing public and private resources. The Small Area Plan will result in
a land use strategy for Bellevue, while the NIF Plan will be designed to guide
investments in Bellevue from the Neighborhood Investment Fund, which provides
grant resources to community based organizations for neighborhood revitalization.
The
creation of both plans builds upon the successes of and knowledge
obtained by previous projects in the area, including the:
- Far Southeast/Southwest-Bellevue Strategic Small Area Planning Study (2000)
- District of Columbia Great Streets Initiative (on-going)
- East of the River Redevelopment Initiative (2000)
- Comprehensive Plan (2006)
Our Mission
Work with residents, businesses and property owners along with other government
agencies to formulate a cohesive revitalization strategy for the Bellevue
neighborhood that will:
- Guide redevelopment to address needs of the neighborhood;
- Improve the aesthetic look and feel of the commercial corridor;

- Enhance open space and public realm features;
- Coordinate public investment
